Blog 44 - A Season of Thankfulness - Remembering 1 Thessalonians 1;2-5

As I sit here on this English rainy day, I can’t help but stop and reflect how God has been so good and faithful to us for the past 6 years as we lived and served in this land. Sitting among moving boxes and unexpected challenges as we bring our days here to a close, truly 1 Thessalonians 1:2-5 says it all...
2. We give thanks to God always for you all, making mention of you in our prayers; 3 Remembering without ceasing your work of faith, and labour of love, and patience of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ, in the sight of God and our Father; 4 Knowing, brethren beloved, your election of God. 5 For our gospel came not unto you in word only, but also in power, and in the Holy Ghost, and in much assurance; as ye know what manner of men we were among you for your sake.”

God has been truly faithful to meet our needs and to equip us to minister. As He worked in and through us to bring forth the gospel, we had the privilege to not only reach the local Brits, but the students from around the world who studied at University of Exeter. Much disciplining took place as hearts were changed for His glory, and new churches were started.

We also remember the many tears of joy and hardship we endured, all for fact He chose us for this blessed assignment, the land we truly love - England.

Gratefulness swells within my heart as I stop and think. Although it’s a bittersweet time as we pack up to once again move across the pond, the close friends, neighbors and students will always have a special place in our 🥰 hearts.

And although this chapter of our life is coming to a close, we anticipate the next chapter of new beginnings in a new land to once again share the gospel with our words and lives whoever may come our way.

Psalm 84:5 states, “My heart is set on pilgrimage”; and as believers we might have resting places along the way, but our real home is heaven to someday be with our Lord Jesus forever and ever. Having that missionary mindset is a must for the believer....

Til then Lord, I am yours whenever and wherever that next assignment on earth will be. All for Your Glory...

Here is an old song that comes to mind...

This world is not my home I'm just a passing throughMy treasures are laid up somewhere beyond the blueThe angels beckon me from heaven's open doorAnd I can't feel at home in this world anymore

Oh lord you know I have no friend like youIf heaven's not my home then lord what will I doThe angels beckon me from heaven's open doorAnd I can't feel at home in this world anymore
